Why The Wizards Already Won The John Wall Trade

The Wizards made a deal that I didn't think they would make. They traded former No. 1 pick John Wall and a heavily protected first round pick for Russell Westbrook. On paper you may see this as a terrible trade for both sides, but the Wizards won this trade. John Wall and his horrible contract hasn't played in over two years, while the Wizards gained a all-star player in Russell "Triple Double" Westbrook.
You have to wonder what Wall has left in the tank after not playing for two years. Westbrook and Bradley Beal will form a dynamic duo and lead the Wizards to the playoffs while the Houston Rockets will probably lose James Harden too, since he wants out, and then they will probably try to trade Wall.
The first round pick is no big deal. It is so protected that it doesn't matter. If the Wizards are good, its a bad first round pick so who cares, but if they stink the pick is so protected that it will most likely become two second round picks. So Rocket fans you basically traded a all star point guard for a point guard who hasn't played in over two years. Just think about that trade when you're tanking -- oh wait, you can't tank because you don't have your first round pick for a long time.
To be honest this trade marks the end of a era. John Wall, the player that got me in to basketball, is gone. I wish there was a way we could have kept him but he will live on as one of the best Wizards players ever. He was such a great athlete and we will miss him. Enjoy Houston, John Wall, and thanks for the memories. But with all those injuries to overcome, I'm glad he's the Rockets' problem now.
